The GHOL Sober Lodge (Sober House) is specifically intended to offer a recovery safe haven for alcoholics/addicts exiting Rehabilitation facilities. There is a significant need to bridge the gap for addicts transitioning from life in residential treatment to life out in the real world. It is no secret that during this extremely vulnerable period for the addict that relapse occurs regularly.
At the GHOL Sober Lodge So the GHOL sober lodge is set on one acre of stunning garden in the peaceful quiet suburb of Mandara in Harare. There is plenty of space for quiet reflection as well as facilities for social interaction and recreation. There is a large wide veranda and a swimming pool, as well as a fire pit for evening get togethers. On site is a pool table and a slug machine. We plan to also offer volleyball. Inside the house there are four bedrooms, three doubles and one single, able to accommodate seven people. There are two bathrooms and a large fully equipped kitchen with black granite work surfaces. The lounge opens out on to the veranda and there will be screenings of recovery based movies and documentaries on a regular basis. The dining room area has a lovely fireplace and can seat twelve people. There is WiFi and printing and scanning can be done on site. There’s a double lock up garage and a separate laundry. We are also building up a gym for guests to use. There’s a borehole and water tank and an electric gate which is well lit and secure, with a razor wired wall. We are active members of the Neighbourhood watch.
The main emphasis of the GHOL Sober Lodge is to create a sober/clean and supportive environment run and managed by addicts/alcoholics who have been in recovery for many years. fellowship, fun and social events are a regular feature on a weekly basis. Members from 12 Step fellowship groups will be on hand to share their experience strength and hope with residents during their stay with us.
Strict house rules will be enforced and drug testing will take place if needs be.
There has been a desperate need for a facility of this kind in Harare for many years, and we are very proud to be the first to pioneer the way forward to serving addicts and our community around us.
Whilst the GHOL Sober Lodge is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, Sober Lodge Members and residents realize that only active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous offers assurance of continued sobriety.
