🔥 The Price of Freedom

“Simple, but not easy; a price had to be paid. It meant destruction of self-centeredness. I must turn in all things to the Father of Light who presides over us all” – The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous P14.

There is a misconception that freedom from the bondage of alcohol comes for free…

It does not…

There is a price to pay…

And it has to be paid up front before freedom can be granted.

The Book mentions that we HAD to he free from selfishness…

We HAD to or it kills us!

What lengths would you go to, to prevent something from killing you?

We had to pay the price of destruction of self-centeredness in order live.

Only God makes this possible…

We HAD to have God’s help…

This is the how and the why of it…

First of all we needed to quit playing God…

Playing God didn’t work…

Next we had to appoint God the principal above all…

He is our director…we are his agent…

He is the father…we are his children…

We are in this world to play the role that he assigns…

Not the role that you assign.

This is the price that HAS to be paid for freedom from selfishness…

Destruction of of self-centeredness…

Yup destruction of me..me…me…mine…mine..mine..I…I..
I…

If you’re not sure about the self-centeredness you deploy every day, do this little exercise tonight…

Make a list of where you are currently playing God in your life…and other people’s lives…

You will be shocked…

Until you quit playing God in ALL aspects of your life you will continue to suffer the bondage of self…driven by a hundred forms of fear, self-will and self-pity.

God can’t stop you from playing God…

Only you can quit playing God.

Let that sink in.

Paul
