“So we think our troubles are basically of our own making, the arise out of us” – The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous P62
Why do I consider this the most powerful statement in the Big Book?…
What if my troubles are of another person’s making?…
That person has to change for me to get better…
And that may never happen and I stay sick…
That is a hopeless and futile way of living…
If you get your sense of self from outside of you it means something from outside of you has to change for you to feel ok about yourself.
Where does your sense of self come from?…
Unless it comes from within you, you will never be at peace with yourself.
If my sense of self comes from within, you can add to me but can cannot take anything from me…
A powerful way to live…
Accepting that my troubles are of my own making…
On any given day…
Not just in the past…
Not only when it is convenient…
From this position you can learn to love without condition…
If you practice the principle of unconditional love towards others…
No one can ever take anything away from you…
You WILL experience the peace of God that passes all understanding.
