🔥 Growing or Going?
God does not keep me in fit spiritual condition…
I keep me in fit spiritual condition…
By practicing the strict disciplines of Steps 10 and 11…
Every day morning, noon and night…
And inbetween…I practice the these principles in ALL my affairs…
Even my affairs I never wanted God to know about….
Even the affairs in my life where I am lazy…
Even the affairs in my life where I think I know better than others and God…
ALL my affairs…
Every day morning, noon, night and inbetween…
I place the practice of these principles above ALL…above everything else and anyone else…
Why do I do this?…
I wish to remain sober today…
I wish to remain feeling happy about being sober today…
I wish to remain free from the bondage of my self-will…
Free from the delusion of control over my alcoholism…
Free from the delusion of control over my life…
Free from the delusion of control over other people…
That is why I place the daily practice of these disciplines above ALL.
It is impossible to remain in fit spiritual condition unless your practice of these disciplines is current…
Current means now!
How current is the practice of your fit spiritual condition?
Or are you a practicing “when I”…
“When I came into the rooms”…
“When I took Step 4 inventory”…
“When I offered myself to God”…
“When I last admitted I was wrong”
“When I last picked up the Big Book and read it”
“When I last did an evening review”
The practice of a current spiritual experience means “I am”
“I am currently practicing the disciplines in steps 10 and 11″…
Every day morning, noon, night and inbetween…
Keeping the practice of fit spiritual condition current…in the now!
After all it is only in the now where God can be sought…
Not in yesterday nor tomorrow…
Right now…today…currently.
How current is your experience in recovery?…
How current is your experience with God?…
How current is your experience with steps 10 and 11
Or are you suffering the delusion that your experience is current based upon your inventory you took a year ago?…
Or your initial run through the 12 steps 2 years ago?…
Or your stint in rehab 3 years ago?…
Or the meeting you attended last night?…
Or that coffee you had with your sponsor a week ago?…
How current is the practice of your spirit fitness?
Or are you living off an old experience?
Are you assuming that you are in fit spiritual condition because you been sober a while?
Are you assuming just going to meetings will keep you in fit spiritual condition?
The Big Book makes it clear that we only get a DAILY reprieve from alcohol contingent on the DAILY practice of our spiritual fitness.
Anything less is living in a state of untreated alcoholism…
Restless…irritable…and discontent…
There is NO middle of the road solution here…
You’re either growing or you’re going.
